Anthony Bourdain

For my 24th birthday, Kelly got me tickets to see Anthony Bourdain! I've tried to see him before, but tickets were either too expensive or sold out. I was freaking out - I love love love Tony! Props to my sister for telling Kelly about the event :)

Happy New Year!

I've been neglecting my poor blog, but I am finishing off 2009 with a Utah food post :) Enjoy the pretty pictures taken with my new Canon Rebel X1i!

Burgers!

I love a good cheeseburger :) Here's two that I had this month (I actually had three really good burgers, but I forgot to take a photo of the one I ate last week.)

Original Mojo Burger

Mojo Burger is a San Jose chain that makes great burgers :) Juicy and cooked to perfection, with yummy fries to boot!

Bison Burger from Gordon Biersch

This is the second time that I've had a bison burger and I recommend them. Bison tastes just as good as beef, but it only had about 3 grams of fat per serving!

Cincinnati Chili

Okay, I'm way behind. My only excuses are schoolwork and Xbox 360 games, specifically Borderlands.

Anyways, like I said in the previous post, Kelly made Cincinnati chili using this recipe. Since I have never been to Cincinnati before, I didn't really know what to expect. I knew that it had chocolate in it, as well as a ton of other spices, but that was about it. Was it going to be sweet? Spicy? When I asked questions, all I was told was that it was going to be a "gut bomb" and that it was going to be made "3-way" style. Okay...

When he started cooking, the entire apartment smelled like a cinnamon roll exploded in a pot of chili. It was strange. Eventually I was presented with a plate of spaghetti topped with chili and tons of cheese. He also gave me a bowl of oyster crackers. It was tasty. The spaghetti was a little weird at first, but I liked it. And the oyster crackers really added something to it, but I don't remember what! This is why I should post the same week that I ate the meal.

So I haven't really been cooking...

Or eating out at restaurants in the past few weeks. I really don't want to take photos/post about the overpriced food on campus :p Kelly made some great Cincinnati chili that I will post about soon.

But I did make brownies in a cupcake pan a while ago - they turned out great!

Recent Eatings

Just a few photos of some food that I've had in the past few weeks :)

Crappy iphone pic of wings from Smoke Eaters. I went Traditional Death, the boys went 4 alarm (6 on a scale of 7).

In n' Out burger. Animal style, of course.

I thought our animal fries needed more spread.

The most delicious soy chai frappe ever. At Bean Street Coffee in San Mateo.

Hot and spicy sausage at Oktoberfest in Campbell.

They ran out of beer. Way too much crap wine for us to drink. We eventually dumped it out.

Tostada Waffles

On Thursdays, Kelly takes care of me by doing the cooking. It's Project Runway night, so he wants me to be able to relax and enjoy one of my favorite shows. He wanted to try something new from one of his cookbooks, so he made me tostada waffles. Basically he made a waffle batter and mixed chili powder and green chilies into it. It was a little strange at first because waffles are expected to be sweet; but when I bit into the waffle it was a little spicy. Top the waffle with standard taco toppings and you're ready to eat :) Just don't cut the entire bunch of green onions like he did in the last photo!
